Japan Earthquake: Death Toll Rises as Rescue Efforts Continue

7.5-Magnitude Quake Collapses Buildings

A 7.5-magnitude earthquake has struck western Japan, causing widespread damage and loss of life. The quake struck shortly before midnight on Monday, and has been followed by a series of powerful aftershocks.

The number of people killed in the earthquake has risen to at least 10, with hundreds more injured. Many homes and buildings have been collapsed, and infrastructure has been damaged.

Rescue workers are currently searching through the debris for survivors, and are urging residents to remain indoors and avoid areas that have been damaged.
